A company called NutraGlow Inc. (Newport Beach, CA) recently launched a new sublingual B vitamin supplement, Super B. The company says that its Super B liquid supplement is meant to be dropped under the tongue, and thus, it is absorbed by the body more quickly and effectively than traditional pill vitamins. It also serves as an alternative delivery form for consumers who either experience “pill fatigue” or who have trouble swallowing pills.
Super B is a blend of vitamins B6 and inactive B12-vitamins which are typically available in a balanced diet. However, the company notes, roughly 40% of the population experience some symptoms of vitamin B deficiency, resulting in feelings of fatigue and sluggishness. Consumers on restricted diets, like vegans or vegetarians, for example, may require additional B vitamin supplementation that is not present at optimal levels in their diets. Some of the benefits vitamins B6 and B12 offer include “improved muscle growth and repair, elevated metabolism, increased energy, improved growth of skin collagen, and a better balance between sodium and potassium levels,” the company says. In addition, Super B purportedly provides an energy boost similar to caffeine, due to its unique combination of active ingredients.
“We’re excited to introduce Super B to the marketplace, as our exclusive formula represents a more effective delivery system for vitamin B6 and B12 into the body,” said Sherry Kelishadi, vice president, NutraGlow, in a press release. “Not only will our unique blend noticeably increase energy, optimize brain cognition, and aid in weight loss, but with Super B we’ve also eliminated the number one issue patients have with their supplements-the pills themselves. By offering Super B in liquid form, anyone interested in leading a more healthy life through vitamin B6 and B12 supplementation can easily take a few drops of tasty tangerine-flavored Super B without the discomfort and poor taste associated with vitamins in pill form.”
Specifically, Super B contains hydroxycobalamin, the most active form of vitamin B12, “uniquely powerful in its ability to boost energy and fight fatigue,” the company says. According to the company, hydroxycobalamin may help support heart health, improve cognitive function, and stimulate use of fat and carbohydrates in the body for energy. In addition to hydroxycobalamin, Super B also contains pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P), the active form of vitamin B-6. The company says that P5P’s ability to process carbohydrates may also help to prevent the accumulation of body fat. P5P also has purported brain-health benefits, and helps supports a healthy nervous system. Finally, the company says, P5P “stimulates the brain during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, leading to a deeper, more restful slumber,” and “improves awakening cortisol levels, allowing the brain to wake up more easily to prepare for any anticipated stress.”
Super B is 100% preservative free and is manufactured in a U.S.-based, FDA-registered facility.
