Hong Kong–based ingredients supplier TSI Group, which specializes in glucosamine and chondroitin, has acquired a China-based contract manufacturer, adding to TSI’s ground-level operations in China.
Currently, TSI has five other existing manufacturing facilities in China. The new contract manufacturing facility was purchased from Yessamin Health Company, Ltd., a Norwegian company. The facility specializes in contract manufacturing and packaging tablets, two-piece gelatin capsules, vegetarian capsules, and softgels for dietary supplements. The facility is BRC, NSF, and GMP certified.
“We strategically positioned ourselves to serve customers looking for a reliable Asian manufacturing partner to produce products that support brands entering the emerging Chinese market,” says Larry Kolb, managing director of TSI Group’s innovation products division in Missoula, MT.
On the dietary supplement business in China, Kolb says, “The country as a whole is already the largest supplier of the raw materials in the supplement industry, and the quality standard of Chinese manufacturers has improved significantly in recent years.”
