Ingredients supplier Sabinsa Corp. (East Windsor, NJ) will sponsor a presentation on digestive health, titled “Probiotics: Survival of the Fittest,” at this year’s SupplySide China trade show. The presentation will take place on Friday, June 29th, at 1:50 pm in meeting room one, level C of the China Import and Export Fair Complex Conference building.
At the presentation, Weifen Li, PhD, professor and researcher at Zhejiang University Agriculture, Life, and Environmental Science department (Zhejiang Sheng, China), will discuss the food-grade, spore-forming Bacillus coagulans probiotic strain MTCC 5856, which is marketed by Sabinsa under the brand name LactoSpore. In the seminar, Li will describe LactoSpore’s properties, clinical studies, potential food applications, and health claims. Li’s own research, which includes more than 100 published papers, focuses on the effects and mechanisms of probiotics. She has presided on a number of probiotic projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Sabinsa says that the presentation will help to shed further light on LactoSpore’s potential in range of applications targeting digestive health. Spore-forming probiotics, in particular, are quickly gaining popularity within the probiotics category, Sabinsa says. It adds that the growing body of research supporting spore-forming probiotics’ efficacy, plus high stability in a wide range of delivery formats, make spore-forming probiotics especially appealing to both manufacturers and consumers.
Today, probiotics are one of the top five segments in the dietary supplements industry, and are consumed not only for their gut-health potential, but also for immune support, among other health indications, Sabinsa notes. At SupplySide China, the company will exhibit its own probiotic branded ingredients, as well as its other offerings, including its Curcumin C3 Complex ingredient. Sabinsa is also the official curcumin sponsor of this year’s SupplySide China show.
SupplySide China is scheduled to take place this year from June 28-29, in Guangzhou, China. The event provides a “professional and focused platform to unite industry suppliers and buyers to build relationships, share expertise, and gain understanding of the latest industry developments.”
