Rimfrost is a joint venture between krill harvester Olympic Seafood AS and extraction specialist Avoca Inc.
Olympic Seafood AS and Avoca Inc. (Merry Hill, NC) have formed a joint venture to produce Antarctic krill oil under the Rimfrost Krill Collection brand.
Olympic Seafood AS is a Norway-based krill harvester. The company uses a low-temperature, low-oxidation processing technology and recently earned Friend of the Sea certification for sustainable krill fishing. Its krill material will undergo extraction by Avoca Inc., a Pharmachem company that has performed extraction on krill for the last two years. Resulting krill oil will be produced under the venture name Rimfrost USA LLC.
“This venture will enable us to produce in the range of 600 tons of krill oil per year, which is equal to the estimated current annual worldwide demand,” said Avoca president David Peele. “It ensures our customers are receiving an extremely high quality krill oil, extracted in a GMP facility, with traceability from krill that are collected in an environmentally sustainable manner.”
