NutriScience Innovations LLC (Trumbull, CT) has rolled out its new spray-dried lactoferrin to provide greater dissolvability for certain applications. Lactoferrin, an iron-binding glycoprotein found in milk, has been studied for its anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant activities, according to Nutriscience.
In its announcement, NutriScience explained why its spray-dried lactoferrin offers certain functional advantages over other lactoferrin ingredients:
“Lactoferrin products which are freeze dried and milled may result in particles that are more difficult to dissolve, reducing its beneficial qualities. Unlike those, NutriScience offers customers a spray-dried lactoferrin which is easily dissolved and thus maintains its benficial qualities.”
The non-GMO, spray-dried lactoferrin is appropriate for dietary supplements, infant formulas, oral and cosmetic products, and functional foods and drinks. Nutriscience adds that is an “excellent ingredient for tablet applications.”
