Natural products manufacturing firm Now Foods (Bloomingdale, IL) has been named one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Chicago by Crain’s Chicago Business, a weekly business newspaper. According to Now Foods, it was one of only a few manufacturers to be included on the list.
Crain’s Chicago Business has honored local companies that create quality workplaces for employees since 2008. This year, Crain’s partnered with Best Companies Group to survey employees in the Chicago area about their workplace, benefits, and company culture. In order to determine which companies are the Best Places to Work in Chicago, Crain’s analyzes the following criteria: first, it evaluates participating companies’ workplace policies, practices, and demographics. Then, it surveys employees at those companies to determine employees’ work experiences and overall attitudes about the company. The survey portion of the process accounts for 75% of the total evaluation, according to a Now Foods press release.
“Every single Now employee has played a crucial role in the success of the company over the last 50 years, and it is gratifying to receive affirmation that they feel how valued they are, and to be recognized for all of our efforts in making Now a positive workplace,” said Jim Emme, CEO, Now Foods, in the press statement.
Now Foods is the largest independent, family-owned natural products manufacturing firm in the U.S., the company said. This award is the company’s latest workplace distinction, though it pointed to other honors it has received in recent years, including the Chicago’s Best & Brightest Companies to Work For award from the National Association for Business Resources (NABR). Now Foods has been family-owned since 1968. This year, the company celebrated 50 years in the natural products industry.
