A new nitric oxide–boosting ingredient called S7 will be introduced at November’s SupplySide West trade show by FutureCeuticals Inc. (Momence, IL). FutureCeuticals says S7, which is a blend of seven plant-based ingredients, will join the company’s sports nutrition ingredient portfolio. It says the ingredient has been clinically shown to increase nitric oxide levels in humans by up to 230% over baseline levels.
Nitrates, including dietary nitrates, are touted as a way to increase nitric oxide (NO) levels in the body; however, according to FutureCeuticals, supplement ingredients that simply supply the body with exogenous nitrates-ingredients such as beets, leafy greens, or sodium nitrate-may not in fact be optimal. By contrast, the company says, S7 “triggers the best kind of NO production-your body’s own nitric oxide.” And it claims to do so with a small, 50-mg dose.
“The problem and solution rest in the fact that our bodies can produce a substantial and greater amount of NO internally without external supplementation of nitrates,” said Jeff Van Drunen, president of FutureCeuticals, in a press release. “S7 is the new pathway to NO like no other on the market today.”
The clean-label ingredient is geared to sports nutrition products such as preworkout and performance products, energy drinks, and more.
