A new turmeric ingredient is said to be bioavailable at a lower dose. The ingredient, called Turmipure Gold, is one of the new products debuting from Naturex (Avignon, France) at this week’s Natural Products Expo West trade show.
According to Naturex in a press release: “The main bioactives responsible for turmeric’s health effects are curcuminoids. However, curcuminoids are poorly water soluble and absorbed by the body. [A mere] 300-mg dose of Turmipure Gold delivers more curcuminoids in blood than 1500 mg of standard turmeric (containing 95% curcuminoids) with or without black pepper extract.” The ingredient is also available organic certified, the firm says. At Expo West, Naturex will sample Turmipure Gold in an organic joint-support shot product.
Another offering at the show will be a new and improved version of Naturex’s VegeBrite spirulina natural blue color that can also create green shades when blended with the company’s natural yellow colorants. Says the company: “VegeBrite Ultimate Spirulina is at the forefront of Naturex coloring foodstuffs range, providing a fully clean, water-extracted coloring solution.” At the show, the company sampled the ingredient in a frozen yogurt. Naturex also points out that its Avignon, France, production site has been enhanced to increase its production capacity of this ingredient.
