MycoTechnology Inc. is has announced the launch of its U.S.-based Fermentation as a Service (FaaS) platform to confront the bottleneck in fermentation capacity. According to the company’s press release, this initiative is an opportunity for startups and innovative enterprises that may be struggling to secure fermentation capacity during this industry shortage. With its FaaS initiative, Mycotechnology promises companies accesses to essential tools and expertise to help them efficiently scale up their fermentation operations to volumes as high as 90,000 liters, as well as volumes as low as 300 liters.
“Fermentation is a critical process that underpins the production of a wide array of bioproducts. However, scaling up can be fraught with difficulties, and fierce competition for fermentation capacity is resulting in bottlenecks, delays and escalating costs,” explained Ranjan Patnaik, chief technology officer at MycoTechnology, in a press release. “These factors are creating major barriers to entry into the sector. But by opening up our facility to others, we aim to foster breakthroughs and accelerate the pace of innovation.”
According to MycoTechnology, FaaS platform operates under rigorous regulatory standards, adhering to FDA 21 CFR Part 117 guidelines, boasts a GFSI audit certification from BRCGS, and can accommodate a diverse range of bioproducts that include proteins, enzymes, and probiotics.
