Dietary supplement company Herbalife is now accepting applications for new ingredient concepts prior to the company’s May 18-19 North American Innovation Meeting. The purpose of the program is for the company to entertain ideas for novel ingredients and technologies that might fit into its existing product lines or the creation of line extensions.
The program is open to companies, entrepreneurs, and other “nutrition industry visionaries.” Herbalife executives will review submissions at the upcoming North American Innovation Meeting. The deadline for submission is April 4, 2016. Finalist will be announced on April 19, 2016.
The company says that at its last Innovation Meeting held in November 2014, the program received more than 120 proposals, and 10 finalists were selected from the bunch to further discuss their ideas with the company. Of these finalists, four went on to either see products launched by the company or see products now in the late stages of the commercialization process.
In particular, the company is seeking ideas for the following applications: 1) Innovative meal/snack food bars, 2) Non-egg-based breakfast foods/snacks in powdered, just-add-water formats, 3) Novel delivery systems for vitamins, minerals, and nutraceuticals, especially chewables and orally dissolving technologies, 4) and innovations in plant-derived and botanical nutrients.
