Valensa’s smaller-size spirulina tablets will open up business to new consumers, including children and seniors.
Valensa (Eustis, FL) introduced spirulina mini tablets at Expo West. The smaller-size tablets are intended primarily for kids, seniors, and other consumers who have difficulty swallowing large tablets.
Thanks to a special coating, spirulina minis also provide spirulina that is reportedly milder in taste and aroma. Organic spirulina is especially associated with a “green” taste that may discourage some users. At 200 mg of spirulina per tablet, spirulina minis should open up Valensa’s ingredient business to a larger audience of manufacturers. The company also conceived of a blue color extracted from spirulina and is preparing to use this as a natural coloring for tablets and, ultimately, foods and beverages. Look for spirulina minis in a distinguished blue color later this year.
