Beneo expands on-site storage capacity in Germany for functional carbohydrates

Beneo (Manheim, Germany) has quadrupled storage capacity at its facility in Offstein, Germany, to accommodate larger stores of its functional carbohydrate ingredients Isomalt, Palatinose, and GalenIQ. The company invested $8.5 million to add a new 84-ft-high warehouse that can accommodate 8,500 Euro pallets.

The enhanced storage capabilities not only prepares Beneo from a business contingency standpoint but also increase logistics efficiencies and saves costs and time because it is located near the site’s packaging and shipment operations. The company previously housed these ingredients largely offsite. Now, with local storage, it can reduce transportation time and cost and increase the security of its supply, said Ralph Cartarius, operation managing director for the facility, in a press release.
