Aurora Algae (Hayward, CA) has secured a $2 million LEED grant from the Australian State Government to develop a pilot algae production facility in Western Australia.
Using CO2 from nearby industrial producers as feedstock, Aurora Algae’s facility is expected to produce between 12 and 15 metric tons of algae biomass each month. That algae can then be sold across several markets, including nutraceuticals, pharmaceuticals, aquaculture, and renewable energy. Commercial-scale production is anticipated for mid-2014.
