AIDP (City of Industry, CA) has been named exclusive distributor of prebiotic manufacturer Neo Cremar Co. Ltd.’s (Seoul, South Korea) range of oligosaccharides. Per the distribution agreement, AIDP will now be the sole distributor of Neo Cremar’s NeoGos digestive health prebiotic ingredient, as well as its other oligosaccharide ingredients, in the U.S. and Canada.
Galacto-oligosaccharides, like NeoGos, are prebiotic fibers made of a chain of galactose sugars. NeoGos is found naturally in human milk, the company says, and has been proven to be safe, efficacious, and highly tolerable. It exerts its digestive-health benefits by selectively stimulating the growth of a limited number of beneficial bacteria in the colon. The prebiotic is also said to prevent colonization by pathogens and to balance the ratio of beneficial and non-beneficial bacteria in the gut.
The company adds that NeoGos also has benefits for skin health; specifically, NeoGos may help to improve skin’s moisture, inhibit water loss, and also decrease erythema and the appearance of wrinkles.
Mark Thurston, president, AIDP, noted in a press statement that the digestive-health category is continuing to see strong growth. “We’re committed to building our digestive health ingredient portfolio, and the NeoGos is an ideal addition to our growing line of prebiotics,” he said.
Jay H. Kim, PhD, CEO, Neo Cremar, also commented on the partnership in the press statement: “We are very pleased to sign an exclusive distributorship agreement with AIDP in the North American market for NeoGos, an innovative prebiotic material, and are confident that this collaboration [will help] to develop the U.S. and Canadian [digestive-health] markets.”
