A partnership with Unistraw births a fun collagen concept.
The collagen market is exploding in Japan, with sales estimated at over two billion dollars each year. Experts in the beauty-from-within and bone/joint health categories say this is nothing new. But the U.S. collagen market pales in comparison, with offerings currently limited to lackluster dietary supplements such as tablets, chews, and drink shots. In an effort to bring the local market some excitement, Nippi Collagen (Vancouver) and Unistraw Holdings (Singapore) are partnering to offer collagen drinking straws made with TruMarine collagen.
Already in use throughout various global markets, Unistraw drinking straws are straws are filled with pebble-shaped “unibeads” that house flavors and active ingredients. When the consumer sips water, milk, juice, or some other liquid using the straw, the unibeads gradually dissolve, thereby releasing their flavors and active ingredients. Nippi’s “CollagenSIP” straws are made available in a variety of potential flavors, and they can even be formulated with complementary ingredients, such as vitamin D and vitamin K2 for bone/joint health products.
The CollagenSip straw was on display in a pink lemonade flavor at November’s SupplySide West trade show, where it was also a finalist for the editor’s choice awards.
