The nonprofit group Women in Nutraceuticals (WIN) recently announced it was now accepting applications for its Board of Directors1. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2025, and individuals interested can submit an application through the WIN portal. Four positions are open to be filled.

Directed by global nutraceutical leaders, WIN seeks to support women in the nutraceutical industry, increase the percentage of women in leadership roles, increase funding for female-led businesses, and to support women’s participation in nutraceuticals research.

As described in the Board of Directors job description2, this volunteer position is responsible for governing and the financial well-being of the organization and requires active collaboration and dialogue with the president, staff, and other members. The length of appointment is three years, the weekly time commitment is 10 hours, and the position is fully remote.

“Women In Nutraceuticals (WIN) is excited to announce upcoming open seats on its Board of Directors!” WIN stated on a LinkedIn post on January 20, 2025. “WIN is dedicated to empowering women in the nutraceuticals industry, fostering leadership opportunities, and driving diversity and inclusion across the sector. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact and help shape the future of the organization. WIN is seeking passionate, driven individuals with diverse expertise to join the board and contribute to its mission.”

As noted in the announcement, criteria that will guide candidate selection includes1:

  • Qualifications: Evaluate candidates based on skills, experience and specific expertise (e.g., fund raising, networking, legal, grant writing, etc.).
  • Diversity and Inclusion: Strive for demographic, regional and professional diversity to enrich board perspectives.
  • Commitment: Assess candidate's capacity to contribute actively through meetings, events, and initiatives, keeping in mind that they can be available for a minimum of 75% of board meetings in a year. Candidates must understand that, at this point, WIN is a working board; that they must be willing to roll up their sleeves and actively engage in achieving WIN's objectives.
  • Alignment with Values: Ensure candidates share WIN's core values, mission, and strategic vision.
  • Leadership Potential: Prioritize candidates with strategic thinking and collaboration skills.
  • Network: Evaluate potential to recruit new members and sponsors.
  • Active Involvement: Prioritize candidates demonstrating understanding and involvement in women's issues in nutraceuticals or allied sector.
  • Candidates must be a WIN member.

The 2025 election will take place from March 24 through April 7, 2025 with the results announced on April 14. The new officers will be installed at the annual meeting on April 26, 2025.
