Yeast beta-glucan ingredient Wellmune is breaking onto the Chinese dairy market with two new ready-to-drink milk beverages featuring the immune health ingredient. Milk manufacturer New Hope Dairy Holding Co. (Chengdu, China) has launched Star of Hope Children’s Milk Vigorous and Star of Hope Children’s Milk Smart, both of which are fortified with Wellmune.
Aside from the immune support appeal of Wellmune, the two beverages also include additional nutrients with different health markets in mind. Children’s Milk Smart contains DHA and phosphatidylserine and is designed for memory improvement, while Children’s Milk Vigorous is meant to boost energy with the addition of casein phosphopeptides and vitamin D.
Both ready-to-drink milks are designed for children aged 3-12 and will be sold in mass market and grocery stores, as well as online.
“For the first time, we are offering parents convenient dairy based drinks for children that help support healthy immune function and fill in nutritional gaps they may be missing,” says Jin Li, product director of Star of Hope, New Hope Dairy. “We are thrilled Wellmune is a key ingredient in Star of Hope Children’s Milk because parents can feel good knowing they are building a healthy foundation for their children with this unique product.”
Wellmune supplier Biothera (Eagan, MN) calls the move to include Wellmune in the dairy beverages “the first of its kind in China.”
“A recent Gallup study found that immunity is the most sought-after health benefit by moms for their children,” says Richard G. Mueller, CEO, Biothera Health. “We are thrilled Wellmune is a key ingredient in Star of Hope Children’s Milk because parents can feel good knowing they are building a healthy foundation for their children with this unique product.”
