TraceGains partners with Global Forest Watch Pro to help with deforestation analysis amid incoming EU regulations.
TraceGains, a leading provider of quality, compliance, and innovation solutions1 in the food and beverage industry, announced in a recent press release that the company was partnering with Global Forest Watch Pro (GFW), “the supply chain edition of the World Resources Institute's flagship GFW platform." With this new partnership, TraceGains will be able to offer their manufacturers and brands deforestation analyses regarding land plots that have a forest-risk commodity link which will help these businesses better understand deforestation risks.
As mentioned in the press release1, “TraceGains offers an end-to-end solution for the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) encompassing data collection, supplier and ingredient compliance risk questionnaires, plot deforestation analysis, risk analytics, and due diligence statement submissions, which can be triggered automatically through incoming certificates of analyses when goods reach the EU market.” With the technology provided by GFW, they will help assist food and beverage companies’ sustainability standard compliance in Europe and globally1.
To help meet the upcoming deadline from the EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR), companies will soon be mandated to guarantee that they will not have shipments coming from deforested areas after 2020. Customers of TraceGains will be able to track, “…high-risk commodities like palm oil, soy, beef, coffee, cocoa, rubber, and timber, ensuring compliance with regulation while tracking progress against sustainability commitments.”1
"Our customers are actively leading the way on environmental sustainability, but there are a lot of data sources out there," said Paul Bradley, senior director of product marketing for TraceGains1. "It can be difficult for businesses to navigate the complex data sets and analyses needed to create more sustainable products. Integrating with best-in-class data providers like GFW Pro lets our customers map deforestation risk and conduct risk assessment across their supply chains, bringing all of that intelligence together in one place."
Through the help of GFW Pro’s data and analyses, the partnership with TraceGains will help assist “…environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting as well as mandatory disclosure for the EUDR and other emerging regulations, and substantiates green claims.”1 This will help support TraceGains' manufacturers and brands be able to spot potential risks, lower their environmental impact, as well as uphold transparent supply chains.
