The new range is the result of a recently acquired majority stake in Azerys, a specialist in rosemary extraction.
Syensqo (Brussels) has announced the launch of Riza, a plant-based range of antioxidants and flavors derived from rosemary. The new range is the result of a recently acquired majority stake in Azerys (El Jadida, Morocco), a specialist in rosemary extraction. According to the company’s announcement, rosemary extract accounts for greater than one third of the total natural preservatives used in food. Because of the growing demand for natural ingredients, the use of natural preservatives has increased significantly.
“The Riza range aimsto help food manufacturers eliminate artificial preservatives by providing them with a natural alternative,” said Christophe Cartier, Syensqo’s aroma market director, in a press release. “With the natural benefits of rosemary extract antioxidants, we can create tailor-made solutions for our customers' needs.”
“Azerys’ capabilities and extraction knowledge, combined with Syensqo’s innovation power, provides our customers with the expertise required to meet their natural expectations” added Moulay-Rachid Cherkaoui, CEO of Azerys.
The company uses ethically-sourced wild rosemary from Morocco’s Atlas mountains. As an antioxidant, rosemary helps preserve omega-3 fatty acids, stabilize flavor and color properties, and maintain product qualityas well as shelf life. The Riza range can be used a variety of application. These include meat, bakery, instant meals, oil and fat-based food products, pet foods or feed ingredients – swine, poultry, fish – and beverage. The solutions are available as powders or liquids, and contain different carnosic acid levels.
