A new fish protein ingredient said to help manage hunger and promote satiety.
A new fish peptide ingredient said to help manage hunger and promote satiety debuted from ingredients supplier Nutraceuticals International Group (Paramus, NJ), thanks to its new joint venture with France-based supplier Compagnie des Pêche Saint-Malo to develop health-promoting marine-based ingredients. Directly descended from a long tradition of cod fishing on the banks of Newfoundland, Compagnie des Pêche Saint-Malo was founded in 1934, specializing in providing research and development of natural marine ingredients focusing on all areas of nutrition and health. The company is ISO 9000, 9002, 9001:2000, 14001, 22000 certified.
According to Nutraceuticals International Group, the new protein peptide ingredient, SlimPro, which is enhanced with branched-chain amino acids, increases production of cholecystokinin(CCK) and glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1)-both hormones linked to appetite control-which in turn sends messages to the brain to promote feelings of satiety. The company says that the weight-management ingredient showed promising results in in vivo and in vitro trials for controlling food intake.
SlimPro is water soluble and can be used in many applications, including tablets, capsules, soft gels, stick packs, protein shakes, beverages, and baked goods.
