HTEssence hydroxytyrosol has applications in food, supplements, and cosmetics.
The antioxidant hydroxytyrosol, found in olive leaves and oil, is now available in nature-identical form from Wacker Chemie AG (München, Germany). The company’s new HTEssence hydroxytyrosol has applications in food, supplements, and cosmetics.
Research suggests that hydroxytyrosol benefits heart and skin health, in addition to other potential health benefits. Hydroxytyrosol can help reduce the appearance of skin aging and dark pigmentation, Wacker says, adding that HTEssence has an ORAC value of 4,500,000 μmolTE/100 g, a level ten times higher than green tea and over twice as high as CoQ10.
A nature-identical hydroxytyrosol source is key because sourcing hydroxytyrosol from olives and olive leaves is a process both complex and cost-intensive, the firm says. HTEssence is said to deliver the same benefits, with a higher purity, as a standardized active ingredient.
