New equipment slated to increase capacity and broaden market penetration.
SunOpta Inc. (Toronto) is expanding the capabilities of three of its consumer products facilities.
The company’s Allentown, PA, facility, received two flexible re-sealable pouch filling lines that will increase the company’s total pouch filling capacity to about 140 million units. The additional equipment, the company said, would enable new needs to be met in the adult nutritional, value-added beverages and functional and fortified foods categories.
Both of its Modesto, CA, and Alexandria, MN, facilities were outfitted with new multi-serve fillers to expand aseptic beverage operations. A single serve (200/250ml) filler was also installed at the Modesto operation. These three new fillers increase SunOpta’s beverage production capacity of approximately 400 million quarts, broaden packaging format options, and increase the breadth of categories served beyond non-dairy beverages to include organic dairy and nutritional beverages.
