Silk has received non-GMO certification for all of its products.
Silk (Broomfield, CO) claims it has used non-genetically-modified soybeans since the brand’s inception 15 years ago, but certification was never part of the program. Now, all Silk products are verified by the Non-GMO Project.
Silk general manager Craig Shiesley announced the new product distinction at this week’s Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS) Forum in Boulder, Colorado.
Silk Soymilk, Pure Coconut, and Pure Almond milks will be affected by the change.
The company’s certification status follows its 2010 launch of a traceability website, where soybeans in Silk Soymilk can be tracked back to their farm of origin.
