Roquette has announced the acquisition Qualicaps to reinforce its position as a major supplier to the pharmaceutical industry.
According to a recent announcement from the company, Roquette (La Madeleine, France) has agreed to acquire Qualicaps (Nara, Japan), the third largest producer of hard capsules for oral dosage formats, to reinforce its position as a major supplier to the pharmaceutical industry. Qualicaps’ clientele include major pharmaceutical and food companies from around the word, and has a workforce of 1,400 employees across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
The strategic investment, said Roquette in a press release, offers the company the ability to expand the global footprint of its pharmaceutical business, and enrich its offerings of oral dosage formats. The acquisition is expected to close in Q4 of 2023, subject to customary and legal conditions, until which point Qualicaps remains under the ownership and management of Mitsubishi Chemical Group.
“Today’s announcement is a significant step in Roquette’s journey to reinforce its position as a key player in Health and Nutrition markets,” said Pierre Courduroux, CEO of Roquette, in a press release. “Qualicaps’ strong position in hard capsules will represent a significant addition to our excipients’ portfolio and will enable our company to offer more solutions responding to the needs of our customers and to the demands of patients who are looking for continuously better treatments.”
