Roquette Receives Distinction for Pea Protein

The market research firm Frost & Sullivan (San Antonio, TX) has named Roquette (Lestrem, France) a recipient of its 2010 product differentiation excellence award for the company...s Nutralys brand pea protein.

Nutralys is an organic pea protein derived from yellow pea (Pisum sativum) and easy to use in food products, according to Roquette. It offers a wide variety of applications, including gluten-free food, snacks and cereals, pet food, and encapsulation.

Frost & Sullivan awarded Roquette with the award because of the company...s innovation of the pea protein...s sensory profile, namely for a more neutral taste and odor.

'At present, the taste of vegetable proteins persists in being one of the foremost developmental obstacles,' said Roquette in a company press release. 'In order to be successful, pea protein isolates need to have a neutral taste, which will not impact the characteristic organoleptic qualities of the finished products.
