Stevia supplier PureCircle (Chicago) and low- and no-calorie tabletop-sweeteners company Merisant have long been partners. PureCircle recently announced that the companies have expanded their supply agreement with a new deal that will see PureCircle supply Merisant with ingredients made from next-generation steviol glycosides such as Rebaudioside M (Reb M).
“This new and expanded partnership will help to ensure Merisant’s long-term supply of the best-tasting stevia ingredients,” said PureCircle in a press release. “Merisant has been a partner and customer of PureCircle for the last 10 years. Merisant’s sweetener products are sold in more than 90 countries worldwide.”
PureCircle has been working to significantly increase its ability to supply Reb M to the food and beverage market. This rarer glycoside is said to be more sugar-like in performance compared to a more common glycoside like Reb A.
Merisant’s products include Canderel and Equal with Stevia; PureVia; and Whole Earth. Albert Manzone, CEO of Merisant Company, Flavors Holdings Inc., and MAFCO, said in the press release: “As consumers continue to search for natural products and opportunities to reduce sugar, our brands strive to bring the best-tasting stevia products at the best value to the market. We are excited to continue our partnership in bringing the next generation of stevia to the consumer and helping to give consumers more and better options to live a healthier lifestyle without sacrificing taste.”
