U.S. food ingredients supplier Prinova (Carol Stream, IL) is expanding its global premix footprint by acquiring Lycored’s (Beer Sheva, Israel) premix operations in China and the UK, the company announced.
Michael Petrushka, general manager, Prinova Solutions, told Nutritional Outlook that in addition to expanding Prinova’s global footprint in premixes, the acquisition will more than double Prinova’s premix supply capacity.
Don Thorp, president of Prinova, said in a press release that the premix acquisition “gives Prinova a global foot print with six manufacturing sites around the world located on three different continents.”
“What it’s doing is allowing us to take the global product-management system of Prinova, where we carry 2000 ingredients in multiple locations around the globe and have a supply chain back to China, it’s allowing us to take that model that we integrated in the U.S. [and] now we can take model and extend it globally,” Petrushka added. “So we can do that in the UK for serving the UK and Africa, and from China, serving the Pacific Rim.”
Lycored’s premix facilities in China and the UK supply premixes of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, for applications including cereal, beverage, dairy, and more. Petrushka added that Prinova also expects to benefit from Lycored’s heavy activity in infant nutrition.
Thorp also pointed out that the acquisition complements the investment the company has already made in its dry and liquid nutrient and flavor premix blend operations in North America. “The addition of these premix capabilities gives Prinova the ability to extend these offerings on a global basis, customized to the needs of the regional markets,” he said.”
Prinova says it expects to retain all of the Lycored employees at the both the China and UK facilities. Prinova is a global supplier of ingredients, flavors, blending, and contract manufacturing services and is a leading global supplier of vitamins C and B and food-grade amino acids.
