Lysi (Reykjavik, Iceland), which says it is the largest Icelandic producer of omega-3 products, says it will double its omega-3 production capacity at its Reykjavic headquarters by the end of March.
“The purchase of the Norwegian cod liver oil operation Maritex late last year secured long-term access to local arctic raw material, which will be processed at our expanded plant in Iceland,” said company representative Katrin Petursdottir, in a press release.
The company also credited growing demand, in the U.S. particularly, from its Boulder, CO-based omega-3 supply partner ArcticSource1, which the company says is forecast to account for 3 million lb of omega-3 sales this year.
