Nutritional Growth Solutions has announced a new clinical study evaluating the effects of its sports nutrition supplement on the physical activity performance of young soccer players between the ages of 8 and 15 years
Nutritional Growth Solutions (NGS; Tel Aviv, Israel) has announced a new clinical study evaluating the effects of its sports nutrition supplement on the physical activity performance of young soccer players between the ages of 8 and 15 years. NSG’s supplement contains 17 grams of protein per serving, L-arginine, creatine, as well as 14 vitamins and minerals. In the randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study, 50 healthy soccer players will received either placebo or the supplement for eight weeks, followed by an eight-week open-label period. NGS expects initial results by Q3 of 2023.
“This study marks our first step into the growing sports supplements market,” said Liron Fendell, CEO and managing director for NGS, in a press release. “We look forward to providing active children a safe, effective supplement designed specifically for their wellness and physical performance.”
“In the current study, we will run multiple tests, including 10 meter and 20 meter sprints, countermovement jumps, agility tests, endurance tests, and make anthropometric assessments (height, weight and BMI) and body composition,” explains Michal Yackobovitch-Gavan, PhD, director of clinical studies for NGS. NGS designed its patent-pending nutritional supplement to fulfill nutritional requirements for active children and adolescents to improve their body composition, exercise performance, and general health. Without sufficient calories, macronutrients, and micronutrients in their diets, young athletes may lose muscle mass, strength, and bone mineral density, making them susceptible to illness and injury.1
“While sales of our existing Healthy Heights branded product line in the US will continue to be our focus in 2023, NGS will invest up to $100k in this clinical study,” added Fendell. “Moreover, NGS will continue building a strong pipeline of innovative, exciting products to vend through existing and additional distribution channels.”
The flagship products for Healthy Heights include Grow Daily 3+ and Grow Daily 10+, which are clinically tested to support health growth and weight in children.
