The ingredient can be used at daily doses of up to 1500 mg in sports-friendly formats like nutrition bars and beverages.
Nitrosigine, Nutrition 21’s (Purchase, NY) sports nutrition arginine silicate ingredient introduced last year, is now self-affirmed Generally Recognized as Safe for food and beverages.
The inositol-stabilized arginine silicate ingredient helps promote the body’s production of nitric oxide, thereby increasing blood flow and the circulation of oxygen and nutrients for muscle performance and endurance.
Nitrosigine already has a new dietary ingredient notification filed with FDA. The new GRAS affirmation means the ingredient can be used at daily doses of up to 1500 mg in sports-friendly formats like nutrition bars and beverages.
The company says Nitrosigine is quickly absorbed, delivering effects in as soon as 30 minutes and lasting for up to three hours. Nitrosigine also has benefits for heart health and men’s health because it significantly raises arginine and silicon levels, adds Bill Levi, Nutrition 21’s vice president of strategy and business development.
