Nutralliance (Yorba Linda, CA) is now exclusive sales and marketing partner for South Korea-based Ildong Biosciences’ probiotic line in the U.S. and Canada. The firm, which has been specializing in Bacillus research for 70 years, currently manufactures 20 probiotic strains, and actively engages in research and development of further strains. Nutralliance will emphasize Ildong’s patented Quadruple-Coated Probiotics system to distinguish the product from others in the marketplace, says the firm. The four-layer coating system is designed to protect the probiotics from the destructive environment of the digestive tract so that it reaches the lower bowel, where it will have greater functionality.
“Probiotics are likely the fastest growing supplement in the nutrition/food/beverage sector and consumers are actively seeking them out,” said Brian Salerno, CEO of Nutralliance, in a press release. “According to a Euromonitor International report, this market sector is expected to grow from $950.2 million in 2012 to approximately $4.87 billion by 2022.”
To lead sales, and marketing initiatives for the new line, Salerno has appointed Michael Hinkley as business development manager for probiotics. Hinkley has experience with probiotic product development, most recently working at The Nature’s Bounty Co. directing probiotic product development launches.
