Nutrafol calls its new collagen supplement for hair health the first of its kind

Dermatologist-recommended hair-growth supplements brand Nutrafol has launched what it says is the first and only collagen product of its kind for hair health. Specifically formulated to target hair via wellness from within, the new product, Collagen Infusion, is part of a two-tiered system for addressing what the company says are the six root causes of hair thinning: stress, nutrition, hormones, metabolism, lifestyle, and aging.

First, consumers take one of the company’s existing foundational hair-growth nutraceutical supplement capsules: Nutrafol Men, Nutrafol Women, Nutrafol Women’s Balance, or Nutrafol Postpartum. These contain ingredients to improve hair growth, visibly thicken hair, and strengthen hair by targeting the root causes of hair thinning.

Consumers can then add on the newest product, Collagen Infusion, to further support hair health from the impacts of aging. Unlike the existing hair-growth nutraceuticals, which come in pill form, Collagen Infusion is a powder that can be added to hot or cold liquid daily—including yogurt, soup, and smoothies—without adding taste or texture.

The company explains that up to 75% of our scalp is composed of collagen. As we age, collagen and elastin in the scalp naturally break down. This breakdown can start happening as early as 30 years of age and is much more pronounced by age 50. The marine collagen peptides in Collagen Infusion—along with ingredients like CoQ10, a blend of citrus flower acids, and amino acids—together are said to increase the elasticity of the skin of the scalp in part by replenishing existing collagen peptides. This not only supports the foundation of hair follicles, it also strengthens hair fibers and fights the hair breakage and weakening associated with aging.
