The company notes that it thought it prudent to begin sourcing Wakame from other parts of the globe, given the “time of uncertainty” in Japan.
Nutraceuticals International (Elmwood Park, NJ), a leading importer of fucoxanthin-rich Wakame brown seaweed from Japan, is now additionally sourcing Wakame from the Tasman Sea, off the coast of Australia.
“This Wakame provides the same minerals and health benefits as our Asian Wakame and provides an alternative source for us to explore,” the company says.
The fucoxanthin comprises the company’s unique, branded FucoPure ingredient.
The company notes that it thought it prudent to begin sourcing Wakame from other parts of the globe, given the “time of uncertainty” in Japan. However, it notes that its partners in Asia assure that the Wakame sourced from the Sea of Japan is still extremely pure and nourishing.
It says that the clean, cool waters needed to cultivate Wakame seaweed are found in only a few select sites worldwide.
