The Natural Products Association (NPA; Washington, DC) has reached a new milestone, granting its 500thNPA Natural Seal certification.
NPA’s program is said to be the first and only certification program in the United States to verify natural products and ingredients. To qualify for certification, products must minimally comprise 95% natural components, excluding water. Ingredients must come from a renewable resource found in nature, and certified products must fully disclose ingredients on the package label to allow consumers to make informed decisions.
“The NPA Natural Seal is quickly growing in visibility and consumer awareness nationwide,” says NPA’s executive director and CEO, John Gay.
In the past two years, NPA has extended its certification program to cover natural home care products, natural fragrances, and natural personal care products. The association says it expects to start certifying foods starting next year.
