Nordic Naturals Unveils Omega-3 Pet Liquid Supplements
Because omega-3s aren't just beneficial for humans.
Nordic Naturals (Watsonville, CA) has announced the launch of three Omega-3 Pet liquid supplements for cats and dogs.
The product is now available in the following formulations:
- Omega-3 Pet Cats and Small Breed Dogs (2-oz. bottle with calibrated dropper)
- Omega-3 Pet Medium to Large Breed Dogs (8-oz. bottle)
- Omega-3 Pet Large and Very Large Breed Dogs and Multi-Dog Households (16-oz. bottle)
The omega-3 liquid supplement provides pets with EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) from 100% wild-caught anchovies and sardines. Dosages are determined by a variety of factors, including activity level and weight of pet. Directions for use are located on the product label.
Omega-3 is a vital pet nutrient for pets, says the company, noting that human-fed cats and dogs no longer rely on prey animals for omega-3 intake.
In its Omega-3 Pet catalog, Nord Naturals states: “While research indicates that a ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of 5:1 – 10:1 is optimal for dogs, many commercial pet foods contain primarily omega-6 fatty acids from animal fats and vegetable oils, resulting in a highly unbalanced ratio dominated by omega-6 fatty acids.
