It says these ingredients, based on corn or sugar beets, help meet consumers’ demands for natural ingredients.

Jungbunzlauer (Basel, Switzerland) says new personal care applications have been discovered for its ingredients Citrofol citric acid and Erylite erythritol natural sweetener. It says these ingredients, based on corn or sugar beets, help meet consumers’ demands for natural ingredients.

Citrofol, which are citrate-based organic esters, have been found to work as medium spreading emollients for creams, gels, and lotions. The company says the ingredient imparts a pleasant, silky skin feeling, and can even maintain stability in UVA-filter products. The ingredient is already used in deodorants, flavors, and perfumes.

Erylite is an all-natural sugar alcohol with a near-zero-calorie profile. Jungbunzlauer says it is approved by INCI as a moisturizer and humectant and can be used in creams and lotions. The company says studies show that Erylite can increase skin moisture by up to 26%.
