Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) has introduced SymFinity 1298, a beauty ingredient derived from Echinacea purpurea extract.
Symrise (Holzminden, Germany) has introduced SymFinity 1298, a beauty ingredient derived from Echinacea purpurea extract that provides a triple effect-preventing skin from premature aging, promoting an even complexion, and providing antioxidant properties to detoxify the skin, all while meeting consumer demand for natural ingredients. SymFinity 1298 increases skin cells’ resilience to stress and environmental aggressors, as well as provides anti-irritant activity that helps prevent age spots and uneven tones.
The company says that although the most well-known skin-cell-longevity enhancer to date is resveratrol, the company was “looking for an active ingredient that was comparable in effect to resveratrol but more stable, easier to formulate, and more cost-efficient,” said Marielle le Maire, global product director for Symrise Life Essentials.
“We found the active substance in Echinacea purpurea,” she continues. “So far, botanical extracts of Echinacea are traditional herbal remedies and are only rarely used in cosmetic products.”
The company says that two in vitro and two ex vivo tests performed on SymFinity 1298 confirmed that the ingredient causes significant improvement in the skin’s defense against UVB stress after only 48 hours. The recommended dose is 0.1%.
In other news, the company is showcasing new Actipone Supperveggies, antioxidant ingredients that harness that beneficial properties of seven vegetables for use in cosmetics: artichoke, asparagus, beets, broccoli, pumpkin, spinach, and zucchini. Also, the company has expanded its range of Extrapone botanical extracts, adding a new collection of healthy grains such as amaranth, quinoa, and khorasan for skin care.
