Natural Remedies (Bangalore, India) has gained a Natural Product Number (NPN; #80117041) from Health Canada for its AP-Bio Andrographis paniculata ingredient. (The ingredient also goes by the name of KalmCold in Europe.)
With this NPN, the ingredient can be marketed in Canada with the health claim that 200 mg “helps to reduce symptoms of common cold and upper respiratory tract infections (such as sore throat, cough, runny nose, fatigue, plugged nose, and fever.) Helps to reduce/relieve the severity of symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., common cold and flu).”
The ingredient is a standardized extract of Andrographis paniculata leaf containing 35% andrographolides. Three human clinical studies show that it can help manage symptoms related to upper respiratory challenges and can help positively modulate immune responses, the firm notes.
