LycoRed Introduces Microencapsulated Nutrients for Hair, Nails

Article

The company says microencapsulation is essential to prevent negative odor and taste with these ingredients.

LycoRed (Beer Sheva, Israel) is premiering hair and nail nutrition formulations with microencapsulated B vitamins and amino acids, the company reports. Its new formulations are intended to offer function along with consumer acceptance of some difficult-to-mix ingredients.

“Vitamin B complex is essential for correct RNA and DNA synthesis and cell reproduction,” says Karina Bedrack, LycoRed sales manager. “As our skin, hair, and nails are constantly growing and renewing, we need to provide the adequate nutrition to our body, especially vitamins such as thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), biotin, plus choline, to maintain and recover hair and nails. This is especially true after a long and cold winter, which [leaches] these compounds from our body.”

The company says it is essential to microencapsulate some of these ingredients, especially when used in beauty-from-within products where product taste and odor are critical.

The personal care formulations will premier at the VitaFoods tradeshow in Geneva next month.
