Lesaffre Human Care (Milwaukee) has launched Lynside Pro GI+, a yeast-derived probiotic for intestinal discomfort.
The company states that its ingredient, derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, can withstand the gastrointestinal tract and provide anti-inflammatory support in the face of intestinal pain, including that caused by Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
In a clinical trial conducted on the probiotic, 200 subjects with IBS symptoms were assigned to 500 mg Lynside Pro GI+ or placebo for eight weeks. After four weeks, treatment reduced intestinal pain and discomfort significantly compared to placebo.
The ingredient has been registered with the French National Collection of Microorganism Cultures, according to the company.
