Douglas Laboratories has launched a new sports nutrition line called Klean Athlete that takes a unique approach to athletic supplementation: promoting overall daily health in athletes. The line, which includes seven products, is NSF Certified for Sport to ensure all products are free of banned substances. Another supplement, Klean Antioxidant, stars the maqui berry, astaxanthin for antiaging, as well as a patented combination of acetyl-L-carnitine and lipoic acid to help guard against cellular damage stemming from intense training. For cognitive health, Klean Cognitive also features acetyl-L-carnitine and lipoic acid, and also contains vegetarian alpha-GPC. Klean Probiotic supports digestion, including digestion of ingredients key to athletic performance, and also supports immune health. Other supplements include Klean Isolate, a premium-quality whey protein to build and repair muscles; Klean Electrolytes, which replenishes minerals during or after exercise; and Klean Endurance, an all-natural D-ribose chew supplement that restores energy and supports cardiac function and fatigue.

Stonyfield’s Organic Oikos greek yogurt is now offered in a range of flavors, including raspberry, strawberry, and pineapple. The yogurt is made with 1.5%-fat organic milk. According the company, emerging research suggests that small amounts of dairy fat may benefit health, while creating an even creamier yogurt texture. In addition to enhancing satiety, CLA, a naturally occurring fat found in milk and dairy foods, may play a role in preventing heart disease and some types of cancer, the firm says. CLA can also help in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
Minta is a unique new concept in the carbonated drinks sector. The all-natural drink is based on what the company says is a famous European drink made by mixing sparkling water and mint syrup. The original flavor is made with all-natural sugar, while the diet version is sweetened with stevia. The beverages are sold in custom 12-oz recycled-PET bottles, 12-oz cans, and 355-ml glass bottles.

According to the HealthSmart coffee brand, many people who suffer from acid reflux disease, esophagitis, and heartburn, or who have sensitive stomachs, may suffer side effects due to coffee’s high acidity. As such, the brand says it made sure that its coffee is the least acidic coffee on the market. Additionally, HealthSmart coffee offers more health benefits thanks to the company’s proprietary, GRAS-affirmed TechnoRoasting process. The firm says this process helps seal in B-vitamins and essential minerals that can typically be lost during other roasting processes.
Lily’s Sweets has introduced what it says is the first Fair Trade certified, stevia-sweetened chocolate bars made with 55% cocoa.
