Third-party testing laboratory Alkemist Labs launched its Alkemist Assured program earlier this year which enables companies whose products and ingredients the lab has tested to bear a certification seal. It also requires companies to share their test results publicly to encourage transparency within the industry.
Ingredient supplier Verdure Sciences (Noblesville, IN) is the latest ingredient supplier now participating in a testing-verification and transparency program created by contract testing laboratory Alkemist Labs (Garden Grove, CA). Alkemist launched its Alkemist Assured program earlier this year which enables companies whose products and ingredients the lab has tested to bear a certification seal. It also requires companies to share their test results publicly via Alkemist Labs’ consumer-friendly Next Generation Transparency reports in order to encourage transparency within the industry. Results shared publicly must be regularly updated to ensure they are up to date.
Finished-product companies like New Chapter and Beehive Botanicals are already participating in the program, as well as ingredient supplier SuanFarma. Verdure Sciences is one of the first ingredient suppliers to also join the program, says Alkemist Labs.
In a press release, Sonya Cropper, vice president of Verdure Sciences, explained why the company chose to join the Alkemist Assured program. “The Alkemist Assured seal will help provide an added layer of transparency for our customers. This seal aims to bring confidence to the forefront for foundational efforts at Verdure, further confirming identity, potency, and purity through an esteemed and reliable third party.”
Joining the Alkemist Assured is the latest initiative Verdure Sciences has adopted to embrace sustainability and transparency. Its internal Verdugration program addresses sustainability, social consciousness, and transparency related to plants, ingredients, and the environment. Its Verdure Cares initiative specifically aims to build sustainable partnerships.
In the press release, Kristen Marshall, Verdure’s digital marketing manager, stated: “Being a part of the Alkemist Assured initiative offers a unique opportunity to better include quality control and assurance in our transparent efforts. We look forward to collaborating further to uniquely offer consumer friendly Certificates of Analysis to our customers. In tandem with Alkemist, we are going to work to share information openly and accurately. It will certainly be important to share these new resources in a way that translates to appropriate finished products as well.”
