Gencor (Irvine, CA) has launched a new proprietary and patented botanical ingredient called Calmaluma designed to support stress. The ingredient is an extract of Caralluma Fimbriata, an edible cactus from India.
“While stress and anxiety have been prevalent in our communities for some time, the need for treatment approaches has been exacerbated by the current pandemic,” said Chase Shryoc, Gencor’s vice president of sales and business development, in a press release. “The cactus from which Calmaluma is derived has been used in tribal India for years. It was consumed to ward off hunger and increase endurance in regions where sustenance wasn’t readily available. The unexpected yet beneficial outcome of its consumption is often an overwhelming feeling of calmness, which is the impetus of Gencor’s interest in the plant extract.”
Calmaluma expands on Gencor’s current mental wellness ingredients. For example, Gencor distributes affron by Pharmactive, which is derived from saffron and designed to support relaxation, as well as mental and physical balance. “Similar to our other ingredients, Calmaluma has been clinically researched for both its safety and functionality, providing additional assurance for those who suffer the burdens of stress and anxiety,” added Shyroc.
