The deadline is now December 2.
FDA is extending the comment period for New Dietary Ingredient (NDI) draft guidance to December 2, according to a brief published in the Federal Register last week.
October 3 was the original deadline for submitting comments on the recently published guidance, but murky draft language and concern over economic consequences of NDI applications have left industry wanting more time to mull over the language.
Steve Mister, president and CEO of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (Washington, DC), welcomed the extension because it will allow industry to provide "a more thoughtful and comprehensive response."
