DSM Gets Final Clearance for Martek Acquisition

Royal DSM N.V. (Heerlen, The Netherlands) announced it has received unconditional clearance from the Counsel of the National Competition Commission in Spain for its offer for all outstanding shares of common stock of microbial ingredients supplier Martek Biosciences Corp. (Columbia, MD). It is the final clearance needed under antitrust and competition laws for DSM's acquisition of Martek.
Martek’s flagship ingredient is life’sDHA, a sustainable and vegetarian source of algal docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), with benefits for cognitive, cardiovascular, and eye health. The company also offers life’sARA, omega-6 fatty acid arachidonic acid. The ingredients are used in infant formulas, pregnancy and nursing products, foods and beverages, dietary supplements, and animal feeds.
