Fortitech will join DSM Nutritional Products’ Human Nutrition and Health division.
Royal DSM (Parsippany, NJ) is set to acquire global premix specialist Fortitech (Schenectady, NY), the companies announced today. The firms say the deal will make DSM-a leading global supplier of carotenoids, vitamins, nutritional lipids, nutraceuticals, and premixes-one of the leading companies in food ingredient blends for the food and beverage, infant nutrition, and dietary supplement industries.
The acquisition will be completed before the end of the year, and Fortitech will join DSM Nutritional Products’ Human Nutrition and Health division. The 520-employee Fortitech says that access to DSM’s technology, science, and research will drive growth of its own customized food ingredient blends.
“With Fortitech and its workforce, DSM will be able to deliver customized food ingredient premixes and blends to our customers while at the same time strengthening our international footprint,” said Leendert Staal, president and CEO of DSM Nutritional Products, in a press statement.
“Our combined global capabilities deliver a deeper and more comprehensive resource for providing our customers with innovative customized products,” added Walter S. Borisenok, Fortitech’s president and CEO. “Together we boast a brighter and stronger scientific research database and unsurpassed technical excellence that will enable us to bring superior value to our products and services.”
