In a February 6, 2025, press release, health and wellness brand youtheory announced three new GLP-1 support supplements intended to counter nutrient deficiencies that can be experienced during weight loss. The new line includes multivitamins, probiotics, and protein powder, and was formulated with the assistance of researcher and professor Louis Aronne, MD, FACP.
The press release highlights certain aspects of the doctor-formulated products.
The multivitamin, High Potency Multi, is intended to support immunity, energy production, and bone strength, and contains methylated vitamins, chelated minerals, and delayed-release technology. Additionally, the 2X Action Probiotic contains probiotics and prebiotics and is intended to support digestive health and alleviate nausea. Finally, Muscle Guard Protein protects against muscle loss with myHMB and 20 grams of protein, and protects against bone loss with calcium and vitamin D. It also contains prebiotic fiber to gut health.
"GLP-1 medications are truly a breakthrough in weight management, but they can also create significant nutrient gaps in things like vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron and calcium," stated Matthew Taylor, senior director, Insights & Innovation at youtheory, in the press release. "Our new line of doctor-formulated GLP-1 Support supplements is designed to fill those gaps and help users stay nourished, energized, and confident while on their weight-loss journey."
The product line is available at retailers including Amazon, Sprouts, The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, and youtheory.com.
As noted in a recent Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) webinar, supplements specifically supporting GLP-1 diets have emerged, with protein being of particular focus due to muscle loss being a common side effect of GLP-1 usage.
Dr. Louis Aronne directs the obesity research and treatment facility Comprehensive Weight Control Center, and his most recent book is "Change Your Biology Diet: The Proven Program for Lifelong Weight Loss." He is also a founder of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
"I've spent over 30 years doing research and helping my patients successfully manage their weight using medication,” stated Aronne. "During that time, I have also seen vitamin and nutrient deficiencies associated with that significant weight loss, which have now become commonplace due to the unprecedented effectiveness of the new GLP-1 medications. To combat these deficiencies and gastrointestinal challenges we know can occur, I've worked together with youtheory to develop products which will help optimize your results by minimizing these interruptions on your weight loss journey."
Youtheory also offers supplements for gut health, joint health, sleep, stress, beauty and everyday wellness.
