Creagri Inc. (Hayward, CA) has added a new hydroxytyrosol ingredient, Hidrox 12%, to its family of antioxidant ingredients derived from organic olives.
A particulate-free formula, Hidrox 12% now joins Hidrox Liquid 0.5%, Hidrox Spray Dry 2%, and Hidrox Freeze Dry 6%. The ingredients offer high concentrations of olive polyphenols, especially hydroxytyrosol. In fact, the company says that Hidrox offers “the highest level of free radical protection activity ever reported for any natural antioxidant compound.”
“Hidrox 12% is a very clean and soluble ingredient, compatible with all kinds of products and drinks, including water and juices,” said Catherine Bitler, PhD, the company’s vice president of operations. “We have used ultracentrifugation to remove the particulate-insoluble material from the proprietary olive juice we process to produce Hidrox.” Creagri’s proprietary Integrale de-pitting process eliminates unwanted compounds in olive seeds.
The company says that Hidrox formulations are the only hydroxytyrosol products on the market that are GRAS-certified and produced without using solvents.
