The Celiac Sprue Association (CSA) has allowed Hugo Naturals’ complete line of natural body-care products to bear the association’s gluten-free seal.
“The Celiac Sprue Association is pleased to acknowledge that Hugo Naturals meets all the criteria to fit into a gluten-free lifestyle,” said CSA’s executive director Mary Schluckebier.
Cosmetic and personal care customers can often have difficulty finding products that are free of the gluten protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and oats. Celiac disease is estimated to affect 1 in 130 people.
“As celiac disease diagnoses become increasingly commonplace, more and more people are seeking out products that will help them better manage their symptoms,” said Hugo Saavedra, the brand’s cofounder.
“Third-party certification is necessary to keep consumers informed,” he added.
