Matco Foods, a Pakistan-based rice exporter, has partnered with distributor Ciranda Inc. (Hudson, WI) to sell the company’s organic brown rice syrup and organic clarified brown rice syrup in the U.S. The ingredients are certified organic, kosher, and Non-GMO Project Verified.
The ingredients stem from Matco’s Farmer’s Friend program, which seeks to deal directly with struggling rice farmers, alleviating those farmers of the need to work with middlemen who often commission a majority of profits. Matco is a member of the Sustainable Rice Platform, which has pledged to improve the livelihood of farmers and protect the environment. The company recently opened a state-of-the-art syrup processing facility.
Ciranda says it will begin shipping Matco’s organic brown and clarified rice syrups in the third quarter of this year and plans to scale up production over the next three years. The syrups complement Ciranda’s existing portfolio, which includes organic tapioca glucose and fructose syrups, organic agave syrup and inulin, organic honey, and organic crystalline grape sugars.
